Sardinia is a large island off the west coast of Italy. Clear blue waters, white sand beaches, rugged mountains and flat plains.
I found the people to be incredibly friendly and, in common with much of Italy, their hospitality sometimes tends towards being embarrassing.
The people speak Italian and Sard (which isn't the same thing) and many don't speak English so a phrase book is very useful, but it's even better if you take the trouble to learn a little Italian.
