| The city of Siena in Tuscany is well worth a visit if you're in the region.
Quite apart from the famous horse races around Piazza del Campo (the central square which is, in fact, shell-shaped), the
old town is a maze of small streets all seeming to radiate from the campo and interesting to explore.
I'd recommend sightseeing in the early(ish) morning as otherwise the streets and the campo get very crowded.
The campo is, predictably, the place to be seen and to have a bite to eat and a leisurely coffee, don't expect it to be cheap though.
